Hilclare Lighting delivers 45% energy savings for Musgrave Group.
Hilclare Lighting prides itself on meeting the specific needs of customers and the company has once again proved this with another successful project that delivered energy savings of 45%.
Musgrave Group needed replacement lighting for its sizeable cash and carry facilities on the outskirts of Belfast and challenged Hilclare to also provide significant energy savings.
“Energy saving is top of everyone’s agenda at the moment and lighting plays a big part in reducing these costs,” explained Steven McMurray, Project Engineer (NI) for Hilclare Lighting. “The nature of the facilities at Musgrave Group means lighting is on almost constantly and, as such, the costs are significant.
“However, we were able to provide an energy-saving solution that reduced the lighting from 400W hi-bays to just four 54W fluorescent flo-bays, delivering a 45% energy saving.
“This was also grant-aided by the Carbon Trust, so we had to meet some very specific requirements to ensure the client could receive this funding.”
Hilclare Lighting specified the Gomera T5 low-cost, energy efficient fitting at Musgrave. This general purpose T5 florescent high-bay luminaire is suitable for direct mounting either to trunking or a ceiling while it also has the capability for suspension by a chain or steel wire.
The white power-coated slimline steel body, complete with specular aluminium reflector, presents a low profile and an inconspicuous appearance.
Available with digital dimming, integral emergency and energy management systems, the Gomera is perfect for energy-saving projects. And with its relatively narrow distribution, the Gomera is designed for 6-8m mounting heights and is ideal for retail, racking, storage areas and general meetings halls.
The Gomera range of luminaires is also designed and manufactured to meet the requirements of BS EN 60598 2-1.
As well as energy-saving solutions, Hilclare Lighting is also capable of meeting the specific needs of a client. For example, the company provided solutions for the 24-hours-a-day, 365-days-a-year operation at Belfast Harbour and the new Vital Venue which is the centrepiece for events during the Derry/Londonderry City of Culture 2013 celebrations.
“These are two very different projects but in each case we were able to deliver a tailored solution that met some very specific needs,” added Steven. “Our product portfolio is second to none and meets the highest standards but, not only that, we will work with clients to ensure their needs are met.”
